Tara Cox is an actress and educator. Tara graduated from UCLA with a BA in theatre, has studied improv with the Groundlings, and singing from Bon Jovi's vocal coach Mary Jo Duprey. Her 14+ years of performance experience include acting in student films, starring in plays such as "Comedy of Errors" as Dromio of Syracuse, and singing and dancing in musicals such as "Guys and Dolls" as Sarah Brown, for which she received the Goldie award for "Best Actress in a Musical." In addition to her acting career, Tara loves working with and performing for children.
Tara has worked as a character performer at Disneyland, and loved creating memorable magical moments with kids. It was especially rewarding when she got to interact with guests from the “Make a Wish” foundation. During the school year, Tara substitute teaches children K-5 through LAUSD, as well as performing in environmental assemblies for k-6 students, teaching kids through music and movement how to take care of the planet. Over the summer she is the “Filmmaker in Residence” at a summer arts camp, where she gets to direct, film, and edit movies concocted by the creative genius of kids ages 4-13. Tara’s work with children is challenging, fulfilling, and keeps her improv chops sharp :)
